Born Lisbon Portugal February
10th 1960.
1967 Family moves to Toronto.
1984 Graduates as a Chemical
Engineer, University of Toronto. Begins work for a
local paper company as a Research Engineer.
1986 Completes fine art diploma
from the Ontario College of Art. Produces a series
of paintings and drawings.
1989 Travels to India and
Southeast Asia for two years. Learns to photograph.
1991 Returns to Toronto and
begins career as Fashion photographer; shooting
for all the major editorials.
1992 Group photographic show at the Snider Gallery, Yorkville.
1992 Leaves
Toronto travels to India for a second time; photographs
in Goa; produces "India on my Mind ".
1993 Travels
to Portugal for mother's funeral; photographs "Death Diary" .
1994 Travels
to Costa Rica, produces "San Jose Story ".
1995 Travels
to Havana and produces "Havana Light ".
1996 Produces
dark erotic series "The
Shelley Photographs".
1996 Produces "Waiting
Room"; Toronto Street Photography from 92 to 95.
1997 Travels
to India a third time, produces "Bombay Hangover".
1997 Moves
to New York City. Produces "New York, I Love You " and "New
York Novella ".
1999 Undertakes to put
the archive of photographic work on-line. Launches clusterstudios.com as
a new media venture to create web development content
for the world wide web. Creates advanced Flash interfaces.
2002 Returns
to Toronto, launches josephsantos.com to illustrate
photographic archives on-line. Begins new photographic
project "Just
a Moment".
2003 Produces
erotic and landscape work called "Novella"
2004 Produces
urban street dairy called "Street"
